The KarbonZ score

Your KarbonZ score is one number from 300 to 900 that sums up your carbon performance. Higher is better. It rises as your emissions fall, as you keep tracking, and as you back your answers with bills. It is a KarbonZ index for tracking your own progress, not an environmental certification.

How do I improve my score?

  • Cut your emissions. The app suggests changes sized in kg CO2e, so you know which one matters most.
  • Add your bills. Bills replace estimates and make your score more trustworthy.
  • Keep tracking. Month-on-month progress counts, so log every month.

Provisional or established?

A provisional score uses your answers only. Once you add a bill or log a second month, it becomes established. While you are at 300 with nothing scored yet, the app shows Participation baseline.

Questions about the score

Why is my score 300?

300 is where everyone starts. It is not a judgement of your emissions. Answer a question about your home or commute, or add a bill, to get your first real score.

What does provisional mean?

Your score is based on your answers only. Add a bill or log a second month to establish it.

Will answering more questions lower my score?

No. Adding detail never counts as a change in your emissions; only real changes move your score.

Is the KarbonZ score a certification?

The KarbonZ score is a performance index defined by KarbonZ. It is not an independent environmental certification. Scores from answers and bills reach at most 899; 900 is reached only through certification.
